Winner of the Medium Tour, Awad Alqahtani guides Gerenice Of Colors over an obstacle.
Doha: Awad Alqahtani captured the top honours on the opening day of the second round of the Hathab Equestrian Series as he guided Gerenice Of Colors to a flawless routine at the Indoor Arena of Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) yesterday.
Alqahtani and his 12-year old mare completed the round in 68.82 seconds and completed the jump off in 26.85 seconds to secure the top individual prize of the day, QR5,000 in the Medium Tour.
Apple Bee, ridden by Mohammed Said Haidan, also completed the same task without any errors, but spent a time of 70.04 seconds to finish second behind the winning duo as he won QR4,000 in prize money.
Prominent rider Mohammed Sultan Al Suwaidi, astride Numero Uno – T, was slightly faster than Haidan and clocked a time of 68.23 seconds to complete the round with no faults, but spent more time to complete the jump off as they secured the remaining spot on the podium. Al Suwaidi got richer by QR3,000.

Canavaro De Muze (ET), ridden by Jaber Rashid Al Amri was fourth fastest while Colibri 19, with Khalid Mohammed Al Emadi on the saddle, completed the top five.
The team event of the Medium Tour was won by Team Lusail while Al Shaqab secured the second place ahead of Team Salam International.
Today’s action will see Level one and two Dressage competitions, followed by the Open Class 115/125 270 and Big Tour Table A, Special two phases 130/145 as riders will compete for a total of QR50,000 in prize money.
