VYSHGOROD, Ukraine: The Qatar Team’s Shaun Torrente and defending UIM F1 H20 World Champion Alex Carella will have to wait until today to qualify for the afternoon’s Grand Prix of Ukraine after yesterday’s qualifying session on the Kiev Sea at Vyshgorod was postponed because of adverse weather conditions.
Khalid Abdullah Al Kuwari qualified fourth for the first of the weekend’s two UIM F-4S races for the Eurofin Trophy, but his race was also cancelled by officials.
Torrente was third in the morning’s free practice session behind Selio and Chiappe, but Carella only ran for eight laps after engine problems.
Al Kuwari settled into third during the early minutes of the time trials behind Niklas Friberg and Mike Szimura but the Qatari qualified for the first 25-lap race in fourth position behind eventual pole winner Szimura, Friberg and Latvian debutant Nikita Lijcs.
