Qatar ExxonMobil Open will begin from February 14, the ATP announced yesterday as it released the calendar for the first half of the 2022 season.
The ATP 250 level tournament in Doha, traditionally held in the first week of the year, will be played immediately after the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Meanwhile, the WTA Qatar Total Open will be held from February 20 to 26 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
A bumper series of ATP and WTA tournaments will be played in the lead-up to the Australian Open Grand Slam in January, with the lucrative ATP Cup to take place in Sydney.
Andrea Gaudenzi, ATP Chairman, said: “We’re delighted to announce the calendar and give our fans visibility for the first half of the 2022 ATP Tour season." "Tennis has had to adapt to fluid circumstances since the start of the pandemic and, while we continue to navigate its challenges, today’s announcement is a positive milestone in our continued return.
" We cannot wait to kick off another exciting season and welcome back to the calendar those events that were unfortunately unable to stage last year," Gaudenzi added
