MES Indian School hosted an impressive welcome ceremony for the FIFA Arab Cup trophy, reflecting the spirit of the football tournament commencing on November 30.

The chief guest, H E Dr. Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of India to Qatar, unveiled the Arab Cup Trophy. In his address, he complimented the school for successfully hosting the ceremony and noted that it was an important milestone in the history of MES to host such a progamme of prestige befitting its legacy.

Dr. Mohan Thomas, the Indian Community representative, Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, and President of the Indian Sports Council, addressed the gathering. Dr KP Najeeb, President MES Governing Board, welcomed the dignitaries and sports enthusiasts to this magnificent occasion.

A welcome dance followed by a fusion of Arabic cultural dance, sword dance, soccer performance, and students’ mass drill enthralled the spectators.

Students’ held a contingent parade in traditional attire of the 16 participating countries. A giant replica of the football bearing the model of the FIFA World Cup trophy was displayed at the school ground, and the countdown board indicating the remaining days until the FIFA World Cup 2022 was applauded by the audience.

Members of the Supreme Committee of Delivery, diplomats from the Indian Embassy, members of the school’s governing board, the Indian Community and Indian Sports Center, principals of expatriate schools, student council members from various schools, school officials, teachers, and students attended the ceremony.
