Doha: The Ambassador of Türkiye to Qatar, H E Dr. Mustafa Göksu said that Qatar is up to the level of the challenge in hosting the 2022 World Cup, and it has proven that at all levels.
This came as a comment on the speech of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during the inauguration of the second ordinary session of the first legislative term, corresponding to the fifty-first annual session of the Qatari Shura Council.
The ambassador stressed that “Qatar has succeeded in the test referred to by H H the Amir, and that it really impresses the whole world with what it has achieved and is achieving.”
He added, “The World Cup clock tells us that the moment the Qatari people have long waited for is approaching, and we are fully confident that Qatar will demonstrate to the world the best World Cup ever, and we are proud of Qatar as the first Muslim country to host this major sporting event.”
Ambassador Göksü also acknowledged the constructive role of Qatar’s foreign policy, which H H the Amir noted in his speech.
That policy has achieved successes and achievements in difficult files in the region through preventive diplomacy in defusing crises before they escalate. He also pointed out that Qatar has already won respect through its policy of positive balance between principles and interests.
