The podium winners at the Sealine Cup of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) pose for a picture with officials of QREC at Al Rayyan race course yesterday.
Doha: Itsher from the stables of Majid Safedeen, brooked no opposition en route to winning the Sealine Cup at the Al Rayyan race track yesterday.
Jockey Darren Williams rode Itsher to glory and the top prize of QR 45,000.
Scotchman, ridden by S Golam, finished a notch behind Itsher.
Cape To Rio - trained by Ahmed Al Jehani - secured the third place in the QR 80,000 spectacle. Cape To Rio was ridden by N Guilbert.
In the L/B Pure Arabian Handicap, Shakeemah - ridden by David Bouland - topped the field in the 1200m dirt race.
Al Nashat, ridden by Marvin Suerland, was second while M Hussain-owned Haizum ended the day in third place. Bouland won the top prize of QR 25,650.
Earlier, Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club Chairman, Sheikh Mohammed bin Faleh Al Thani owned Damis recorded an emphatic victory in the President of the UAE Cup at Baden Baden, Germany.
After having finished a credible fifth in the Qatar Arabian World Cup at Longchamp in Paris on October 7, the DAK Dorenberg trained Damis came up with yet another brilliant performance as he kept the other international contenders at bay to win as he pleased in this Group II contest for Pure Arabian run over 2000 metres with a purse of 40,000 Euros.
Qatar Cup winner Poulain Kossack had to settle for second place, three and a half lengths behind the winner. Athlete Del Sol was a close third ahead of Ameretto.
Earlier, sporting the Umm Qarn colours Damis had thwarted the spirited effort of another Qatari challenger Areej to win the President of UAE Cup at the Saint Cloud race course in Paris.
Organised by the Emirates Equestrian Federation in Abu Dhabi, the President of the UAE Cup is one of the most prestigious series of races worldwide attracting the best horses in each of the six host countries and surrounding nations.
Located in the centre of the Black Forest in Southwest Germany, the Iffezheim racetrack is a new addition to the 2012 President Cup Series schedule.
The race course is internationally recognised as one of the biggest horse racing organisers in Germany, attracting almost two million visitors annually.
