Doha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) issued an important statement urging farm owners not to make any contract for the accommodation of workers on agricultural land, and described these contracts as illegal.
The Ministry affirmed that such contracts are contrary to the laws, and are contrary to the provisions of Law No. (2) of 2013 amending some provisions of Law No. (10) of 1987 on public and private property of the State, which included the text of an order under which "agricultural land should be used for agricultural activities only .
The ministry added in the statement that agricultural activity should not be changed to another activity. It also prohibits the exploitation of farms for any other commercial or industrial activity of any kind such as the building of workshops, factories, and warehouses, and also this is contrary to the provisions of Law No. (2) of 2013 mentioned above.
The ministry stressed that those who violate this law will be subject to legal accountability.
