Top officials of QFBA, QFCA and PWC during the launch of ‘Project Taddreb’ on Wednesday.

DOHA: Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) recently launched its latest initiative, ‘Project Taddreb’, a financial training programme, a press statement said yesterday.

QFBA was given a mandate by the Financial Markets Development Committee (FMDC) to help establish the training and competency framework for the financial services sector in Qatar. Project Taddreb will see QFBA take on a second role as a local certificate regime developer.

Project Taddreb was launched under the patronage of Abdulrahman Al Shaibi, the Managing Director of the Qatar Financial Center Authority (QFCA) in the presence of professionals from Qatar’s financial sector.

This project has multiple objectives which includes clearly defining qualification requirements for all key personnel in the financial services industry, to strengthen the level of local competence and training, and to continue professional development across Qatar. Some of the other key objectives of Project Taddreb are to establish a broad-broad financial services sector skills and vocational training programme for non-regulated individuals, to develop a framework that enables coordination between existing financial services sector training programmes and initiatives from both the public and private sector, and to see the adoption of global leading practices in accredited training and qualification programs for regulated activities within the financial services sector.

Through this project, QFBA is also keen to enhance governance and oversight in the delivery of financial services related training to ensure ongoing competence.

At the launch, Al Horr gave an introductory speech which was followed by an overview of the project’s goals and explanation of the competency regimes delivered by Alshaibi, and Yousef Al Jaidah QFCA’s Strategic Planner.

The launch was concluded with some background information about the project from Stephen Anderson and Madhukar Shenoy from PWC. QFCA’s CEO Shashank Srivastava was also among the speakers.
