Gaza: Dr. Saeed Salah, medical director of the Friends of the Patient Charitable Hospital in Gaza City, announced on Tuesday the death of six newborns due to severe cold in the Strip.
In statements, Salah revealed, that eight cases of newborns suffering from severe cold arrived at the nursery department during the past two weeks, noting that they were directed to the intensive care nursery department, where six of them died at different times.
Health officials at the hospital called for the urgent provision of mobile homes as temporary shelters for more than 280,000 homeless families after the Israeli airstrikes, and for the delivery of fuel to ensure warmth and protect young children from the harsh weather conditions.
The United Nations and international organizations confirmed that the Israeli aggression destroyed most of the buildings in the Gaza Strip and displaced the population after a 15-month aggression that was halted by a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and the Israeli entity on January 19.
