EAA activities focus on urgent need for global attention to education in conflict zones

Doha, Qatar: In commemoration of the International Day of Education, Education Above All Foundation (EAA) announced a series of impactful activations designed to emphasise the significance of education and address critical issues facing children and youth globally.

Aligned with this year’s theme, “Learning for Lasting Peace,” these initiatives reflect EAA Foundation’s steadfast commitment to making a positive impact through transformative educational interventions.

In collaboration with Qatar Foundation, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), UNESCO, and renowned photographer Azzam Al Mannai, EAA invited the public to experience a compelling exhibition at Education City. Azzam Al Mannai’s poignant images offer a unique perspective on the lives of formerly out-of-school children in Pakistan, illustrating the transformative power of education.

In partnership with Qatar Foundation, MoEHE, and UNESCO, EAA presented a panel discussion Education Under Attack.

This session, featured development experts including EAA’s Educate A Child Executive Director Dr. Mary Joy Pigozzi and Protect Education in Insecurity and Conflict, Executive Director Maleiha Malik, and students from Sudan and Palestine aimed to shed light on the multifaceted dimensions of the right to and protection of education within challenging contexts.

Collaborating with Musheireb, EAA Foundation presented a thought-provoking installation titled “The Last Class.” Located at Downtown Musheireb, the installation consists of 110 bags representing each day from the beginning of the war up until International Education Day, symbolising the urgent need for global attention to education in crisis zones.

EAA releaseed a position paper on the situation in Sudan, with a focus on policy and law. The publication, titled “A Lost Generation,” addresses the challenges faced by children in Sudan and advocates for urgent policy interventions.

In collaboration with Expo Doha 2023, EAA hosted a session highlighting the critical connection between education and sustainable peace. The session will feature insights from EAA’s PEIC Head of Law and Policy Siraj Khan, emphasizing the role of education in fostering lasting peace.

 The workshop, in collaboration with Silatech, exploreed the significance of personality development in the context of education and employment.

Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), a programme of EAA Foundation, hosted a workshop conducted by Erthna at the EAA Pavilion at Expo Doha 2023, focusing on innovative approaches to climate education.

As EAA continues to champion the right to education globally, these initiatives underscore the foundation’s commitment to creating positive change through transformative educational interventions.
