Doha: Ambassador of India to Qatar, H E Dr. Deepak Mittal opened yesterday the help desk for ICBF Life Insurance Scheme at Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) premises. The help desk, managed by ICC, will be fully operational from today.
Addressing the virtual opening ceremony, the newly appointed Ambassador said the affordable insurance scheme will be a big support for families in difficult times. He urged community leaders and members to raise awareness about this scheme so that it can reach needy members of the Indian community.
The newly launched life insurance scheme is designed for middle class and low income Indian expatriates and it has been well received by the community. The insurance programme enrolls all Indian nationals, resident in Qatar with a coverage of QR100,000 for two years’ with a premium of just QR125. The scheme also covers permanent or partial disability up to the maximum covered amount depending on the severity of the disability.
Speaking during the launch event, President of ICBF, P N Baburajan said that the ICBF intends to ensure maximum participation from Indian community to join the insurance programme, as the premium is as low as QR125 for two years’ term.
Many Indian companies have conducted campaigns to get their staff enrolled in the programme apart from Indian associations who were campaigning to get maximum members enrolled as this is a unique programme that provides maximum benefits for a very low cost.
Till date the enrollment was being coordinated through ICBF Office located at Integrated Indian Community Center (IICC), Thumama.
President of Indian Cultural Centre, A P Manikantan, said that in order to further increase the reach of this scheme ICBF is extending the help desk to Indian Cultural Centre premises, Al Madeed Street, Doha with support and association from ICC management team.
Vice-President of ICBF, Mahesh Gowda said that a place like Indian Cultural Centre, where a huge number of Indian expatriates come for various consular and other services, would be much ideal for this help desk.
