The Algerian Oil and Gas Company (Sonatrach) announced today that supply of Algerian natural gas has been temporarily suspended due to malfunction in the pipeline (Medgaz) that supplies Spain.
Sonatrach said in a statement that the malfunction in the pipeline occurred in the Spanish side, as it caused a temporary interruption in the supply of gas to Spain, adding that the Spanish side is working on repairing it.
The gas pipeline (Medgaz), which began operation in 2011, currently guarantees the export of natural gas to Spain specified in the framework of long-term contracts.
Sonatrach had recently announced a review of gas prices with all its dealers saying there is an increase in the volume of gas exports through the pipeline to Italy compared to Spain.
