The 14th edition of the biennial event will kick off today at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC) and conclude on May 26.
Milipol Qatar is the international event for homeland security and civil defence in the Middle East.
According to organisers, exhibitors will come from Europe, the Middle East, North America and Asia, and 60% of the exhibitors will be first time participants. The exhibiting companies making their debut include Australia, Canada, Cyprus, Croatia, Finland, India, the Netherlands and Slovakia. The exhibition also contains pavilions representing five countries, including France, North America, Germany, Italy, and Austria, participating in the event for the first time and the individual international participation.
Speaking at the press conference, Major General Nasser bin Fahd Al Thani, Chairman of the Milipol Qatar Committee, said: “We are confident that this year will be an exceptional year for the security sector in Qatar, with the approach of hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The exhibition will host several security seminars over two days, focusing on the safe management of major events and enhancing cyber security.”
Maj. Gen. Nasser highlighted the increase in participants, which spurred organisers to create a bigger space for exhibitors, stressing that he expects a more remarkable turnout from visitors. He called on stakeholders in security and surveillance to attend the exhibition to learn about the latest technologies and products and meet local and international companies, as many exhibitors will be launching new products and solutions.
“The exhibition provides an opportunity for manufacturers of equipment for the internal security and civil defence sectors to meet with decision-makers and specialists in security to exchange knowledge and experiences,” he added.
Yann Jounot, President of Milipol trade shows, noted the essence of participation and cooperation in protecting societies from possible dangers, hence the significance of Milipol.
“I invite you all to the exhibition where you can see the latest technologies in security and surveillance. The strength of the Milipol events is in the very existence of an international network of these events. Milipol is a family, and the international network grows every year,” Yann Jounot, President of Milipol trade shows said.
He noted that holding this year’s event shows Qatar’s ability to organise amid its hardships and difficulties. He also praised the Milipol Qatar Committee and its excellent organisational ability to organise one of the region’s most crucial security exhibitions. Brig. Gen. Saud Al Shafi, a member of the Milipol Committee, said that all arrangements have been completed for the event and expect excellent attendance and participation from stakeholders and the public. Maj. Gen. Nasser and several representatives of the supporting companies signed the sponsorship agreements for the exhibition.
