Doha: Ahlam Salem Mubarak Al Mana (pictured), President of the Qatar Women’s Sport Com
mittee (QWSC), has been selected by the IOC Women and Sport Commission as one of the recipients of the 2013 IOC Women and Sport Trophy Awards. The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has been informed of the decision vide a letter by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Ahlam will receive the award at a ceremony on July 1 this year at the Lausanne Palace Hotel in Switzerland.
Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary General of the QOC has congratulated Ahlam on being chosen for the prestigious award which reflects her contribution in the valuable efforts of the Qatar Women’s Sport Committee towards promoting sport among women in Qatar in order to enable them playing a much bigger role in society, and widen their participation in physical and sports activities.
Sheikh Saoud expressed confidence that Ahlam, all the members of the QWSC and QOC staff will continue their hard work and efforts towards bringing further success and recognition for Qatari Women in the field of sports.
