DOHA: Australian rider Alex Cudlin yesterday won the first race of the of the third round of QIRRCH under the floodlights of Losail International Circuit.

The riders had to endure wet conditions as rain lashed the $75m circuit last night. The organisers later cancelled the second race.

Starting from pole position, Cudlin struggled with a slow start on his Suzuki. Cudlin had to battle hard with Qatar’s Saeed Al Sulaiti who was riding a BMW in the first four laps of the race.

However, Cudlin managed to catch up with Al Sulaiti at the half-way stage and stayed in front until the end.

The second position of the podium went to German female rider Nina Prinz, also on a Suzuki bike. Prinz started second on the grid.

Qatar’s Mishal Al Naimi with a Honda was the third-fastest rider

The trophies were given by Mohammed Saad Al Morraikhi, QMMF General Secretary. THE PENINSULA
