Doha: Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC)’s new facilities have made significant contribution to health care of the country by providing more urgent care services, especially for children, designed to cater to the unique needs of pediatric patients.

PHCC opened three new health centres in a space of a year. The most recent being Um Sneem health centre which officially opened in January 2023.

The health centres are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and staffed by highly trained healthcare professionals. They offer a wide range of services, including primary care, specialist care, diagnostic services, and preventative care. The health centres also offer telemedicine services, which allow patients to access medical care remotely, making healthcare more accessible and convenient.

Managing Director of PHCC, Dr. Mariam Abdulmalik said “The opening of these health centres represent a significant investment in the health and wellbeing of our communities, it is a testament to the commitment of PHCC to improve the health and wellbeing of the community. They will play a crucial role in meeting the healthcare needs of the region during this busy period and beyond.

“Last year saw the completion and opening of two new health centers which was a significant milestone for the healthcare system in preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. These health centers enhanced the clinical capacity to meet the demands of the event and beyond. With the influx of tourists, it was essential to have sufficient healthcare infrastructure to provide quality care to everyone,” she added.

According to Dr. Abdulmalik new facilities  allowed PHCC to open more urgent care services, especially for children, designed to cater to the unique needs of pediatric patients. “These clinics are staffed with experienced healthcare providers that deliver timely and specialized medical care for children who have an acute illness or injury that requires prompt medical attention,” she said.

With a focus on prevention, early detection and management of health conditions, improved access to primary care, provides an all-encompassing approach to health and ultimately will enhance the health of the population.

“The expansions have also allowed for Qatari dedicated health centers, enabling the local population to receive care in a culturally sensitive environment,” said Dr. Abdulmalik.

“This investment in the healthcare infrastructure is aimed at improving access to healthcare services, reducing waiting times, and enhancing the quality of care provided. By providing modern, well-equipped facilities staffed by well-trained healthcare professionals, PHCC aims to ensure that its citizens and residents can receive the care they need when they need it,” she added.
