Doha: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani conveyed his condolences to the government and people of the Philippines for the victims of Hurricane Ray. The Qatar Foreign Minister, on his Twitter handle, also offered his condolences to the Filipino community in Qatar.
“Condolences to the #Philippines for the victims of Typhoon Rai, and to the Filipino community in #Qatar, who contributed to the development of the country. We believe in the Philippines' ability to overcome the effects of the typhoon, and we wish all a speedy recovery,” he tweeted.
The rapid intensification that turned this week's Typhoon Rai into the strongest storm to hit the Philippines this year surpassed all predictions, forecasters said, leaving nearly 400 people dead and almost a million displaced.
