Qatari bourse market capitalisation rises to QR460.72bn

Doha: Qatar Exchange’s main index dropped 38.64 points (0.46 percent) last week when the bourse closed at 8,409.85 points yesterday. The trading value was QR 621,363,350.92 last week, a decrease by 12.40 percent, compared to QR709,347,690.95 the previous week.

The trading volume decreased by 6.81 percent to reach 13,943,348 shares, as against 14,961,659 shares, while the number of transactions fell by 18.40 percent last week to reach 9,912 compared to 12,147 transactions the previous week.

The market capitalisation rose by 0.10 percent to reach QR460.72bn last week as compared to QR460.26bn at the end of previous week. Of the 42 listed companies, 13 ended higher while 26 fell and three remained unchanged. Qatar National Bank led the traded value last week, accounting for 15.7 percent of the total , followed by Industries Qatar (14.57 percent) and Masraf Al Rayan (10.33 percent).

The banking and financial services sector led the trading value last week accounting for 51.21 percent of the total, followed by the industrial sector (23.03 percent), the consumer goods and services sector (10.49 percent) and the real estate sector (6.69 percent). The banking and financial services sector led the trading volume last week accounting for 49.74 percent  of the total followed by the real estate sector (14.65 percent), the industrial sector (12.06 percent) and the consumer goods and services sector (8.38 percent).

The banking and financial services sector led the number of transactions traded last week with 42.63 percent of the total followed by the industrial sector (19.76 percent), the consumer goods and services sector (12.68 percent) and the real estate sector (10.84 percent).

For the day, Qatar Exchange added 2.32 points (or 0.03 percent) to advance to 8,409.85 points from 8,407.53 points on Wednesday. International Islamic was up 0.77 percent to QR52.50, Vodafone Qatar rose 1.05 percent to QR8.69, National Leasing gained 0.44 percent to QR45.90 and Qatar General Insurance was up by 0.86 percent to QR46.90.
