Doha: Minister of Culture H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani honoured a number of Qatari theatre figures, in appreciation of their theatrical devotion and creativity. This came during the ceremony of the 35th Doha Theatre Festival that was held under the theme “50 Years of Qatari Theatre” during the main evening of the festival, which is being held from May 16 - 29 at the Drama Theatre in the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara).
The Minister honoured the artists: Mohammed Boujassoum, Ghazi Hussain, and Hamad Abdulreda, in appreciation of their great artistic and pioneering careers in the world of theatre. He also honoured the Qatari theatrical troupes’ candidates, namely from Qatar theater troupe: critic and writer Dr. Hassan Rasheed and artist Saad Bakheet. From Doha theater groups: Artist Rashid Shabeeb and director and artists Ali Khalaf. From watan theater troupe: artist Youssef Sultan and artist Saadi Al Shamari.
The Minister of Culture also welcomed the guests of the Doha Theater Festival, including artists and critics from the GCC countries and Iraq.
