Doha: President of the Republic of Mozambique H E Filipe Nyusi praised the convening of the 6th Summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Doha, stressing that this summit is an important platform for developing the gas industry in the forum’s member states.
In a speech delivered during the opening session of the summit, which started yesterday, the President said that natural gas is an essential element for building peace, stability, and prosperity in GECF countries, looking forward to the 6th GECF Summit, which is the best platform for exchanging experiences, knowledge, and information among member states.
The President of the Republic of Mozambique referred to his country’s experience in the natural gas industry and its export, saying that Mozambique exports on a small scale and aspire to move to the ranks of the major exporting countries represented at this summit.
He pointed out that the production of liquefied gas in Mozambique continues in full swing, which would open a new era for it, explaining that the gas project in Mozambique is major and organized and will have a significant impact on increasing income, exports, and providing job opportunities.
He said that Mozambique hopes to benefit from the experiences and expertise to structure its natural gas projects, which will benefit current and future generations.
He stressed the importance of the summit to build relationships and interactions that would enhance development in the member states of the forum considering global transformations due to climate change and efforts to ensure sustainable development, stressing that natural gas is the best alternative to the usual sources of energy.
