Doha: Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela H E Felix Plasencia affirmed his country’s commitment to the Doha Declaration, emanating from the 6th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), which was held yesterday under the slogan ‘Natural Gas: Shaping the Energy Future’.

In his speech at the opening session of the summit, he said that the declaration will determine the path that the GECF member states should follow in the future.

He added that GECF plays an important role in shaping the future of natural gas markets in the world, calling for raising the levels of dialogue between member states and other countries in the world.

He explained that natural gas is a clean energy source, contributes to reducing pressure on countries’ economies, and ensures the energy transition in the development of the country, which seeks to put these resources at the service of its citizens at acceptable prices and set fair prices in the global market that allow all countries to develop and prosper.

He stressed the recovery of the Venezuelan economy with a quick plan after its decline due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected all world economies and energy markets, looking forward to achieving better levels of development and growth in the future.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister pointed to his country’s success in overcoming the repercussions of the sanctions imposed on it, adding that Venezuela suffered from unilateral sanctions from the United States of America, which affected its economy and gas production and caused the suffering of Venezuelan people. He pointed out that the country is recovering from these repercussions, adding that gas and oil production has returned to normal levels.
