Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) outlined basic consumer rights and provider obligations for both barbershops and beauty salons.
The ministry stated that consumers have the right to check the validity of items used in beauty salons, as well as the right to examine prices before agreeing on using any of the various services provided, in addition to examining the establishment’s compliance with the public health and safety requirements.
Consumers also have the right to have their religious values, customs, and traditions respected.
MoCI also noted that the consumer has the right to keep the transaction bill, which would allow them their right to compensation, finding out future price changes, and having defective products returned or replaced.
Checking for total invoice value against published price list, and the right to freely select from a list of goods and services that adhere to quality standards and specifications can also be greatly aided by keeping the bill.
Service providers on the other hand, as noted by the ministry, are obliged to provide services and/or products that comply with public health and safety requirements, and conform to advertised standards.
Services must be provided properly, with a guarantee running for a period of time related to the service’s nature.
Providers must also determine the data of the service provided, its features, characteristics, and prices, as well as data for goods and services purchased or provided.
