TEHRAN - Iran's First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said Tehran is planning to expand cooperation with the neighbouring countries to overcome dust pollution in the region.

Jahangiri said on Monday that dust pollution is no further a national problem and several countries in the region should attend the campaign to decrease the negative effects of dust pollution resulted from massive droughts in the region.

He went on to say that Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Turkey have to cooperate in this particular field.

Jahangiri further stressed that polluting particles were initially originated outside the country, particularly in Saudi Arabia.

He said that according to an agreement signed between Iran and Iraq, the two countries are to carry out joint measures to stop spread of polluting particles.

Jahangiri is on a three-day visit to Iraq at the invitation of Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi.

One of the main issues which should be discussed during Jahangiri's visit to Baghdad is expansion of coordination and cooperation between Iran and Iraq that is the origin of most of typhoons which causing dust pollution in the Western parts of Iran.
