Doha: Qatar Stock Exchange yesterday launched an e-trading platform that provides innovative, robust, and scalable solutions. The vital milestones come as part of its strategic objectives to transform Doha into an investment hub globally.
The advanced technology comes under the financial market technologies utilised by London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). The ceremony was attended by a number of officials and representatives from QSE and LSEG at the Qatar Stock Exchange headquarters.
The Acting CEO of QSE, Abdulaziz Nasser Al Emadi, said that the launch of this electronic trading system is a key pillar towards the development strategy to assume a well-established position along the world’s advanced exchanges.
He also mentioned the significant partnership and collaboration with other firms that eventuated in the successful launch.
He said that “It plays a vital role in enhancing market confidence, elevating the performance of available investment services and products, and improving the level of trading surveillance, which helps attract a diverse investor base and provides a trading platform capable of accommodating new investment instruments, including derivatives markets.
“Both issuers and investors will benefit from the speed, efficiency, and accuracy of the technologies employed in the new trading platform,” Al Emadi added.
QSE’s IT Director and Project Manager for the newly launched trading system, Aisha Al-Mahmoud said that it will be a significant milestone in the development of the Qatar Stock Exchange, enabling the introduction of new products and services to a new segment of investors and potential participants in derivatives and equity markets.
She also outlined that the latest technology features will enable QSE to meet its goals and enhance its efficiency. Global Head of Cross-Asset & Market Infrastructure, London Stock Exchange Group, John Walker-Robertson noted that the partnership with QSE adds to a state-of-the-art and innovative trading infrastructure.
“The new infrastructure leverages industry-standard FIX messaging and offers a wide range of features aligned to global best practices and standards,” he said.
Senior Project Director at LSEG, Vidumini Ranasinghe said the launch of the platform will be a key milestone going forward.
She underscored the achievement as “Built on the same technology used by many global capital markets and new high-performing trading platform, launched today to be a key capability to develop a financial market.”
