Paris: The French city of Nice has awarded Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the French Republic H E Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, the “Golden Eagle” necklace, in appreciation of his efforts in strengthening relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador received the necklace in a ceremony attended by Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi, the President of Aigla Nissarda Association Francois Daure, and a group of French society and the Principality of Monaco.
In his speech on this occasion, the Mayor of Nice praised the role played by the Qatar in the international arena, pointing out that it is rare to award the “Golden Eagle” necklace to an ambassador who is still practicing his duties, which reflects the tireless efforts of H E the Ambassador in consolidating the bonds of cooperation and friendship between the State of Qatar and the French Republic in general and the city of Nice in particular.
The Mayor of Nice highlighted the contributions of the Qatari Ambassador, during the activities of Qatar-France Year of Culture 2020, which embodied the diversity of sectors covered by the links with the city of Nice, especially in the field of sports, art and economy.
For his part, Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani expressed his pride in receiving the “Golden Eagle” necklace, considering that this medal is a source of great pride and a symbol of the brotherly relationship that binds the two countries.
The Ambassador affirmed the continuation of Qatar’s commitment to promoting diversified cooperation with the French Republic in various fields, especially culture, sports and health. The Ambassador of Qatar is the third person to receive the “Golden Eagle” after H H Prince Albert II, Prince of Monaco, and the Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi.
