After the decision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to close all the shops in several commercial complexes in the country, the Peninsula made a tour of the Souqs today.
In the interest of citizens and residents, the Ministry closed all shops in several markets in the country like Souq Al-Haraj, Souq Al-Gharafa, Souq Al-Ali and Thursday and Friday Market except for pharmacies and supermarkets.
Our photographers found that the all the shops were closed in these souqs and there were no people present. Experts have been requesting the public to avoid gathering and maintain social distancing to contain the spread of the coronavirus. A few readers had pointed out to us that on Friday evening there were many people, some with kids, spending their evening at Corniche. As responsible residents we should avoid visiting crowded places or creating crowd at public places. Like the HMC doctors requested “Stay Home, Save Lives”.

Around the clock, inspectors from the Ministry make sure that everyone abides by the closure.
Whoever makes the violation will expose himself to legal liability
The action comes as part of the precautionary measures taken by Qatar to limit the spread of the Corona virus (Covid 19).
