DOHA: Chairman of Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID), H E Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi (pictured), called on religious scholars and wise leaders of nations to build peace and end conflicts occurring around the world, which threaten the future of nations.
In his closing remarks at the Second International Conference on Religious Freedom and Peacebuilding, organised by DICID in cooperation with the Multi-Faith Neighbors Network, Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasised the importance of fostering peace as both a mindset and a way of action. The conference, which was held over three days under the theme “From Religious Freedom to Religious Responsibility: Peacemaking in a Destabilised World,” worked to exchange ideas and opinions and build bridges of cooperation and trust through its discussions.
Dr. Al Nuaimi stated that religion — in its core principles, fixed teachings, and ultimate goal — has always been, and will remain, the first line of defence against protracted conflicts no matter how long they last. The great divine message is the solution to these conflicts and the means to restore peace. He emphasized that all divine religions and messengers, from Adam to Muhammad (peace be upon him), came to guide humanity to know their Lord, believe in Him, and follow His laws, providing a solid defence to stop their followers conflicts and establishing peace as a foundation for all human life.
He added that during the three-day conference, 11 general sessions were held, along with an opening, preparatory, and closing session.
For his part, Co-founder of Multi-Faith Neighbors Network, Pastor Bob Roberts, highlighted the importance of interfaith dialogue and its role in establishing peace and stability among nations to face challenges and stop conflicts. He emphasized the need to reinforce peace as a solid foundation for all aspects of life.
At the conclusion of the conference, honourary shields were presented to Dr. Barakat Al Qasrawi of Al-Quds Center for Islamic Studies and Media, Dr. Ahmed Saleh Al Subari of Yemeni Organization for Interfaith Dialogue and Culture, and Deputy President of International Council for Relief and Development (ICRD), Dr. Dahan Al Najjar.
