Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2019
The 16th edition of Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), will be more exciting with the return of the DJWE Forum which will witness some of the most important brands and influential watches and jewellery experts of global renown share their knowledge and passion.
The number of Young Qatari Designers taking part in the exhibition has doubled to 12 participants compared to the previous edition.
There will be a dedicated Indian Pavilion as part of the Qatar-India Year of Culture in 2019. Indian designers will showcase their latest and finest jewellery, curated for the local community.
Other exciting features of the show are master workshops by experts in watchmaking, gemmology and jewellery, daily informal educational talks.

H.H. The Amir’s Sword Festival 2019
The Amir’s Sword Festival is one of the most prominent international horse racing tournaments in the region, with the best local and international horses taking part.
The tournament will see eight rounds of competition every day for three days. The first day’s final round will be dedicated to the Zubarah Arabian Horse Award (local breed), while the second day will see the final round dedicated to the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup (class 2) for the pure breed hybrid race (class 1). This race will be 1600m, with a prize of QR200,000.
The third and final day of the tournament is set to be the most prominent. This event will consist of eight rounds, with the sixth round dedicated to the Silver Sword presented by Ooredoo. The race, a full 1850m, will be for Arabian horses with a prize of $250,000.

Biryani Festival
This 10 day event promises to be a great treat for all foodies and food adventurers, where skilled restaurateurs and chefs from the south Asian region will converge.
The entry-free event will also feature competitions, games and a kid’s play zone.

Tarsheed Carnival
Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), represented by the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), organised the third editions of its yearly Tarsheed Carnival events at iconic Kahramaa Awareness Park (KAP).
The ten-day event is being held under a theme ‘Less Today. More Tomorrow’ will have several activities, interactive sessions, theatre performances and competitions among others based on conservation and energy efficiency theme, catering to all segments of the society.
The Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) department of Kahramaa contributes in promoting the national economy by allocating places for coffee shops and restaurants being run by Qatari youths to encourage their entrepreneurial activities.

"The Horse is Turk’s Wings" Exhibition
The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara in cooperation with the Istanbul Intercultural Dialogue Association of Arts (IKASD) and Mazaya company opened an art exhibition titled “The Horse is Turk’s Wings”.
The exhibition by Turkish artist, Ayten Caglar spent 10 years in studying the Turkish horses closely to come up with fascinating paintings that reflect the beauty of Turkish horses and their importance to the Turkish nation.
About 23 paintings are on display at the exhibition which are divided into two sections, one that focuses on the horses in the Ottoman era and their importance to the Sultans then. The second section sheds light on the different breeds of the Turkish horses and exposes their beauty.

Katara Cultural Diversity Festival
This weekend will feature folkloric shows from Sri-Lanka and Africa.
The festival features an array of cultural performances from different nations around the world and aims to act as bridge between cultures and provide a multicultural harmonious environment.

QatART Workshop
QatART is a community of crafters, who make handmade art and craft gastronomic delights.

Syria Matters
‘Syria Matters,’ an immersive exhibition featuring over 120 artefacts dating back as far as 9th century BCE, opened at Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Special Exhibitions Gallery marking MIA’s 10th-year anniversary.
The exhibition sheds light on Syria’s rich architectural and cultural history with objects displayed dating back as far back as the country’s early pre-Islamic period up to its contributions to modern history.
MIA will also hold spectacular performances, lectures, workshops, family activities and book discussions in the next few months for people of all ages that aim to educate members of the public about Syria.

DFI Cinema Under the Stars
Doha Film Institute will be screening Disney animated movie ‘Moana’.
‘Moana' is a family-friendly adventure for the ages about an adventurous teenager as she sets sail on a daring mission to save her people. While on her journey, Moana meets the once-mighty demigod Maui, who guides her in her quest to become a master way-finder. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds. Along the way, Moana fulfils the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she always sought—her own identity.

Contemporary Dance Performance
The Indian Embassy is organising a Contemporary Dance Performance by Dishaa Creative Dance Group led by Basu Sharma as part of the Qatar-India 2019 Year of Culture celebrations.
The event will be an amalgamation of several Indian dance styles and will be enacted by a troupe of 12 performers. The Dance Group has structured its performance around six themes, in six parts named “Aura”, “Elements”, “Two shades”, “Mohe Rang Do Laal”, “Jugalbandhi (fusion)” and “Holiya me ude gulaal”.
Given that the event provides a glimpse of India’s rich cultural heritage, it would be a fitting tribute to the immense diversity that India offers and also to the links between India and Qatar in the field of culture and music.
