Exciting weekend is here! We have drawn a list of interesting events happening in Doha this weekend:
Winter festival at Katara
Fifteen entities from Qatar Government, ministries, cultural and private organisations will participate in the third edition of Winter Festival 2016 opening January 24 at the Katara Cultural Village. Events such as children's competitions, games, folkloric and theatrical shows, handicrafts exhibition, best healthcare practices, diabetes and blood pressure measurements, workshops for falconers, Al Galayel competition, birds and animals gallery are included in the itinerary. The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning will exhibit winter flowers and plant nurseries, gardening tips for children from 4pm to 10pm every day at the Katara Esplanade.

Beauty and Beast at MIA
Doha Film Institute Celebrates the 25th Year Anniversary of Walt Disney’s Animated Classic ‘Beauty and the Beast’. An arrogant young prince and his castle's servants fall under the spell of a wicked enchantress, who turns him into the hideous Beast until he learns to love and be loved in return. The spirited, headstrong village girl Belle, enters the Beast's castle after he imprisons her father Maurice. With the help of his enchanted servants, Belle begins to draw the cold-hearted Beast out of his isolation.

Art shows at Katara
It seems like a gala event for art lovers in Doha. Katara provides an eclectic mix of expos, opening three exhibitions on Sunday including “Georgian Living Heritage”, “Urban Weavings” and “Burst of Colours.” Presented by Mexican embassy, Urban Weavings is 40 piece aerial landscapes and excavations by renowned Mexican artist Paloma Torres. Ten abstract paintings by Qatari artist Aisha Al Kaabi forms the Burst of Colours. Georgian Living Heritage is organised by Georgian Arts and Culture Centre, introducing the Georgian culture to Qatar with a fusion of historical and contemporary objects on show.

Luc Tuymans: Intolerance
Qatar Museums present a retrospective of the work of Luc Tuymans, the first solo show of the artist in the Gulf region. The exhibition, Intolerance, a comprehensive survey of the artist’s work, will include a series of wall paintings and a new body of work, ‘The Arena’, created specifically for the show. Curated by Lynne Cooke, Senior Curator of Special Projects in Modern Art at the National Gallery of Art Washington.

AFC U23 Championship
Its busy time for football lovers as Qatar is hosting the AFC U23 Championship. Asia’s future football stars are fighting to clinch their place at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in the AFC U23 Championship taking place in Doha. A total of 16 teams will be battling for the three places available for Asian sides in Rio. The final is slated for January 30. Qatar is slotted in Group A along with China, Iran and Syria.

The Sleeping Tree
Doha Film Institute will screen The Sleeping Tree, a feature film debut of Bahraini filmmaker Mohammed Rashed Bu Ali at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Auditorium. A story about despair, struggle and sickness with spark of hope in the end, the sleeping tree blends reality with dreamscapes.

Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan live in Qatar
Qatar Tourism Authority is bringing the sultan of Qawwali, Pakistani artist Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to perform live in Qatar. This will be a magical performance by one of Asia’s biggest music sensation. Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali will be performing live on January 29, 2016 at “Asian Town (Old West end Park)” in Doha.

2016 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters
Over 26,000 spectators witnessed the world’s biggest golf stars in action in Qatar last year. The 2016 edition of the tournament will be staged at the Doha Golf Club’s Championship Course and is set to be even better. They have special hospitality packages where you can enjoy golf along with some food made by top chefs.
