Doha: Fresh to strong northwesterly wind will be felt in the country from tomorrow, December 21, until the middle of next week, according to the latest weather update of Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD).
A noticeable decrease in temperature can also be expected during this period. The northwesterly wind will blow at a speed ranging between 10-20 KT gusting to 27 KT at places at times.
During this period, the maximum temperature will range from 20-26 degrees Celsius and the minimum will vary between 10-17 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures may also reach below 10 degrees in southern and external areas of the country, and less than that especially next week.
Due to this weather condition, blowing dust and decrease in horizontal visibility to less than 2 km at open areas is highly likely.
Sea waves are also set to rise to 10 ft at times.
QMD also recently announced the winter solstice, which is characterized as the shortest day and longest night in the northern hemisphere, set to happen tomorrow. This also marks the beginning of winter season as fall season retreats.
