DOHA: The inaugural edition of the World GTL Conference is scheduled to be held in Doha early next year. The conference will witness one of the industries largest ever assemblies of international experts and government representatives when it takes place on January 13 to 15, 2013, at The St Regis Doha.
Organised by the International Quality & Productivity Centre (IQPC), with QP supporting the three-day gathering as the host organisation, the congress will take place at a time when GTL is poised to become the fuel of the future. Furthermore, the event will underline Qatar’s place at the helm of the global GTL industry, organisers said here yesterday.
“Our strong support to industry events, such as the World GTL Congress, is in line with QP’s objective to continuously contribute to the full development of the world’s oil and gas sector, and it also reflects our firm commitment to the continued growth of the global GTL industry,” said Ali Ahmed Ali Thani Al Suwaidi, Head of Events, Qatar Petroleum (QP).
“The fact that the first-ever edition of this event will be held here in Doha effectively highlights the State of Qatar’s preeminent position as the world’s GTL capital. This also underscores the country’s leading role in further promoting the development of the industry as GTL products continue to be widely used worldwide,” he added.
The World GTL Congress heralds the first annual meeting for global GTL stakeholders and industry experts. It will focus on strengthening international cooperation in order to enhance the commercialization of remote stranded gas through GTL technology, and will explore the impact of GTL products on the environment and on the economies of host countries.
‘Tasweeq is immensely honoured to partner with industry leaders for the World GTL Congress as a diamond sponsor. Being the state sole exporter of regulated petroleum products ranging from condensates, LPG, naphtha, gasoline and sulphur, Tasweeq started marketing GTL Naphtha produced by Pearl and Oryx in 2011. Tasweeq will also market and sell GTL blended jet. In 2009 Tasweeq entered into an agency agreement with QP to market and sell Crude oil and manage local petroleum transportation fuels’, stated Abdullah Al Naemi, Marketing Director, Tasweeq.
Ettienne Rademeyer, Chief Operating Officer of ORYX GTL, expressed his appreciation of Qatar’s role as a hub for technological innovation, stating, “Since 2006, ORYX GTL has been at the forefront of the global GTL revolution, pioneering the large-scale production of ultra clean fuels in Qatar, and we continue to inspire new GTL energy projects around the world.
Over the three days of conference and breakout workshops, leading industry experts will discuss the most pressing strategic issues relating to GTL’s legal and financial framework, and develop policies that will help drive the development of the industry. The congress will also feature a world-class line up of international GTL visionaries who will showcase technological innovations and offer solutions to the challenges facing the region’s GTL industry.
