Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Toy Festival has become a huge success as it encourages children to step away from their electronic devices and embrace physical activities.
Spacetoon TV spokesperson, Ahmad Weiss, emphasised the importance of this event, stating that kids nowadays are too engrossed in digital devices, and the festival provides them with the opportunity to be active and proactive.
“Here [at the festival], they can run and go and be active. This festival helps kids the [physical] skills and be proactive,” Weiss told reporters.
The festival’s allure lies in its extensive appeal to all age groups. With over 25 renowned international brands participating, including beloved names like Barney, Barbie, Angry Birds, Sonic, and Transformers, the event ensures a cultural and regional connection with the children who adore these iconic characters.
Parents have expressed their delight at witnessing their children fully engaged in the diverse range of activities. Charles from the Philippines shared his experience, stating that his five-year-old child was continuously enthusiastic, trying out various activities and constantly on the move, which significantly enhanced his physical skills.
“We visited the festival on Saturday with my husband and our two kids, aged 10 and 13. They were ecstatic from the moment we entered, singing songs from Cocomelon and rushing to hug the mascot JJ. The festival feels like a massive indoor playground with excellent supervision and friendly staff. We’re already planning to return this Thursday,” said Andrea from Colombia, delighted by the experience.
The Qatar Toy Festival has proven to be a major attraction, with tickets being sold out for the past six days.
The Rashak Rizk concerts over the weekend were particularly well-received, the Syrian singer-songwriter is known for her contributions to the Syrian cartoon dubbing industry and performances of Arabic theme songs for popular cartoons and anime.
Apart from the captivating activities, kids can also enjoy free face painting, explore a variety of snack options, and witness daily live stage shows.
The event is segmented into four distinct areas, aptly named “islands”: Fancy Land, Champions Land, Cutie Pie, and Hyper Land. Each area offers unique activities and experiences that cater to different interests and age groups, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
Under the theme ‘Live the Tales and Enjoy the Games,’ the Qatar Toy Festival will continue to run until August 5, providing ample time for families to partake in the fun. The festival opens its doors on weekdays from 2pm to 10pm and extends its operating hours on weekends from 2pm to 11pm at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
