Doha: Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) is set to hold two more concerts this month of June before it goes on a break.

These concerts are Classical Hits – Bruch Violin Concert happening on June 21, and Northern European Impressions by Grieg and Sibelius on June 25. Both will be held at Katara Cultura Village, Opera House at 7:30pm.

Classical Hits – Bruch Violin Concert includes one of Mozart’s supreme achievements and one of the greatest operas of all time “Don Giovanni – Overture.”

It will also feature Max Bruch’s most popular violin concertos in solo violin repertoire “Violin Concerto No. 1,” in addition to Beethoven “Symphony No.4.” QPO’s Joo Young Oh will perform a solo violin, who is one of the most established multi-grounded violinists of our time

Meanwhile, the Northern European Impression Concert includes Jean Sibelius’ most enduring work “Finlandia” which is the symbol of ending struggle for nationhood, in addition to the universal favourites with its bright and cheery character “Peer Gynt, Suite No 1” by Edvard Grieg. The programme ends with the romantic and memorable melodies of Sibelius’ Symphony No.2.

Both concerts will be conducted by Elias Grandy, one of today’s leading young conductors. He is also the General Music Director at Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra Heidelberg in Germany, since 2015.

Ticket prices are from QR75 to QR200, and can be purchased at the Philharmonic’s website. QPO reminded the public that attendees will only be admitted if their Ehteraz status is green.
