Doha: This month’s screening under the Doha Film Institute (DFI) at VOX is The Rose Maker, from June 23 to 25 at Doha Festival City.
Directed by Pierre Pinaud and starred by Catherine Frot, Manel Foulgoc, and Fatsah Bouyahmed, the Comedy/Drama 2020 film is about Eve Vernet, who was the largest rose grower, but her rose business on the verge of bankruptcy. Her secretary, Véra, employed three employees without any gardening skills in a plan to save the company.
Rotten Tomatoes, an American review-aggregation website for film and television, rated the movie 95 percent, while audience score is 94 percent. The French film was premiered at the Angoulême Film Festival, and was subsequently screened at several film festivals in Canada which are Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival, and Abitibi-Témiscamingue International Film Festival.
The language of the film is French and Arabic and English subtitles will be available. A standard ticket costs QR40, while premium is at QR50. Moviegoers can book their tickets via Vox Cinema’s website.
Among the past screenings at DFI at VOX were Casablanca Beats in March, and C’mon C’mon in February and March.
