Indian scholar to deliver Ramadan lecture in Katara tomorrow

Doha: Dr. Abdul Vasih, a young Islamic scholar and eloquent speaker from the southern Indian state of Kerala, will deliver a public lecture in the Ramadan Gathering in Katara Amphitheatre tomorrow (Thursday) at 9.30 pm. 

He will take the audience on a journey to discover the secrets of the blessed month of Ramadan, which Muslims observe every year. 

Dr. Abdul Vasih holds a PhD in Islamic Jurisprudence from International Islamic University of Malaysia and was former Dean of Shariah Faculty, Islamic University, Kerala. 

He is also a member of Kerala Islamic Scholars’ Council and Director of Center for Studies and Research Doha (CSRD), the research wing of the Center for Indian Community ( CIC), Qatar. Dr Vasih was recently appointed as Principal of Al Madrasa Al Islamia, Doha. 

The event is organised by Abdullah Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center (Fanar) and this is for the first time an Indian scholar will be addressing the Indian expatriates in Katara Amphitheatre in such a massive program. 

 “This is a token of recognition for the Indian expatriates, particularly Keralites living in Qatar,” said the programme organiser T K Qasim. He invited all Malayalees to participate in this programme. The lecture will be in Malayalam language and no prior registration is required.
