Katara dazzles in National Day celebrations

Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) celebrated the 2022 Qatar National Day, which falls on December 18 of each year, and this year carried the slogan ‘Our Unity is Source of Our Strength’.

Katara attracted local and international visitors on the National Day which coincided this year with the final of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

For nearly a month, the visitors of Katara experienced cultural, artistic and heritage events, in which elite local and international artists participated.

Director-General of the Cultural Village Foundation - Katara Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti extended his warmest congratulations and blessings to H H the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, reiterating the pledge of allegiance and loyalty to the wise leadership, stressing the continuation of the efforts that make Katara a cultural beacon from Qatar to the whole world.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr. Al Sulaiti expressed his happiness that the world is participating in the State of Qatar’s celebrations of the National Day, which comes in conjunction with the global sporting event represented by hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. 

In turn, Katara’s Director of the Public Relations Department Salem Mabkhout Al Marri appreciated the efforts of various local and international media outlets in covering various events. 

He said that they worked in the department to provide all information to the public through the information centers spread throughout the institution, in addition to providing everything that the media needs in its hard work, which contributes to facilitating its tasks.

Katara started the activities accompanying the World Cup on Nov.18 and continued until today, including 51 main activities and 300 sub-events with the participation of the embassies of 22 countries and a number of ministries and government and private institutions divided into five main branches: (festivals, concerts, exhibitions, live performances, and various events). Also, the 12th Katara Traditional Dhow Festival was held with the participation of the State of Qatar and eight friendly and brotherly countries: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Iraq, Yemen, India, Turkey, and Tanzania. The festival included 50 pavilions of the participating countries between exhibitions of marine heritage holdings and others for crafts and 43 handicrafts of marine heritage.

Katara also received large numbers of World Cup fans, who watched the matches in an enthusiastic atmosphere through two large screens on the waterfront. The open theater hosted concerts by a number of world stars, in addition to a number of awareness lectures.

Katara was a unique platform for spreading the teachings and principles of the Islamic religion and introducing World Cup fans to authentic Islamic values.

Katara hosted about 20 exhibitions concerned with sports and arts in cooperation with a number of Arab and foreign embassies in its festive program.

Also, Katara Publishing House has published 22 books on culture and sports, in addition to the launch of a number of artistic murals.
