Sharm El Sheikh: The State of Qatar informed member parties of the United Nations Convention against Corruption on its effort to facilitate international cooperation to implement the convention.
Permanent Representative of the State to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna H E Ambassador Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansoori, during his participation at the ninth forum of Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption held on the sidelines of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption, discussed the highlights of these efforts. Such highlights included Qatar’s hosting of 13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice back in April 2015.
He also mentioned the State of Qatar’s hosting of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption back in 2009 as another highlight. He also said that the State of Qatar launched a unique initiative when it announced the annual H H the Amir’s International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award.
He also drew attention to the establishment of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Centre in Doha in 2011, in order to build specialised knowledge and raise individual and institutional competencies in a way that leads to strengthening the rule of law and combating corruption, explaining that it is a non-governmental centre specialised in research, training and providing technical support to countries of the world in the areas of the rule of law. and anti-corruption.
The Ambassador also discussed Qatar’s contribution at the regional level, which included participation for the formulation of the Arab anti-corruption agreement, in addition to the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority’s hosting of many workshops on the best practices in fighting corruption among other related subjects.
