Doha: Ambassador of Moldova to Qatar H E Victor Tvircun (pictured) praised Qatar’s preparations to organise the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as it reflects the rapid and strong development it has undergone in the past years.
In a statement to QNA on the occasion of Qatar National Day, the Ambassador said, “What Qatar did so far and still do to organise the event at the highest level impresses a lot. For instance, the new buildings, stadiums, transport infrastructure, will offer Qatar the unique position in the region to be the center of sport life not only during the World Cup tournament but for many decades after.”
He extended congratulations to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, members of the Government and all Qatari people, who have achieved the success of being the host of the prestigious football tournament World Cup to take place in 2022. The Ambassador said, “Our friendly relations were established in 1997, the opening in 2013 of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Doha, became the first in an Arab country and of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Chisinau, being the first Arab embassy in the Republic of Moldova, confirms the intention of building a mutually beneficial and lasting relationship.”
“Over the last years, many actions have happened that serve as proof of the continuous development of our ties. Qatar has donated medical aid to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the first ever medical aid sent by an Arab country to Moldova. On behalf of my President, Government and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova I would like to express a gratitude and deep recognition to the wise leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,” he added.
