Doha: Generation Amazing Foundation, the legacy initiative by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, has taken advantage of the power of sport to positively impact people’s lives; creating sustainable social development in communities across Qatar and around the world, beyond FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Generation Amazing has trained hundreds of youth ambassadors as part of the one million beneficiaries of the programme. They are deeply passionate about football for development and are using it to achieve and inspire social progress.

The advocates will pass on what they’ve learned and help thousands more to change lives — their own and those of others.

Many youth advocates shared their experience during the Generation Amazing Foundation annual Youth Festival being held in Education City.

Madiha Nazz, a Pakistan resident in Qatar, said, “I have been a Generation Amazing youth ambassador since 2014; Generation Amazing has not just taught football but given freedom, right and on how to achieve a goal. I have an academy in our community and girls play football there.”

Her fellow youth advocate Mahira, also form Pakistan, said, “Generation Amazing has impacted my life in many ways by giving financial independence, courage and leadership.”

Jafeel, another ambassador, has been working with Generation Amazing since 2013. She has started an NGO 'Unity for Change' in her home country Lebanon. The NGO impacts young people’s lives through football.

Youths taking part in Generation Amazing have improved their leadership skills. It all starts on the pitch, with effective leadership-enhancing techniques, which build up confidence and make them feel comfortable in leadership roles.

“Being a great fan of football, it was my dream came true moment when Generation Amazing took us to Russia to watch the World Cup. Generation Amazing has helped us not only to develop football but also many values,” said  Sadiq Rahman who is a workers’ advocate. He has started an NGO and built five centres to support the underprivileged in India's Kerala state.

His fellow advocate Inamul Hassan, who also travelled to Russia to watch the World Cup, said, “Since I joined Generation Amazing in 2016, my life changed in a positive way. Generation Amazing taught me how to be a better leader, and a coach. With the support of Generation Amazing I got a professional coaching license and started my own football development programme in Sri Lanka.”

Youth advocates are learning to use their life-changing experiences to promote football for development – and give others the same opportunities they had.  Rakha Pandith, a Nepal resident in Qatar, said “We have established a football pitch in our community and created a platform for girls to play football. Generation Amazing also gave training in disaster relief, which helped to save lives during earthquake in Nepal.”
