NEW YORK: Ryan Callahan scored twice in his return to Madison Square Garden as the Tampa Bay Lightning thumped the New York Rangers 5-1.
Callahan was with the Rangers organisation from 2004 until last season when he was dealt at the trade deadline to Tampa Bay along with draft picks in exchange for Martin St. Louis.
Lightning center Steven Stamkos scored his 12th goal of the season, while Nikita Kucherov and Alex Killorn added goals for Tampa Bay.
St. Louis scored the Rangers’ lone goal, while goaltender Henrik Lundqvist stopped 25 shots in the loss.
Meanwhile, Peter Forsberg, Mike Modano, Dominik Hasek and referee Bill McCreary were among those inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday night. Joining the four players and the ref in the 2014 class is the late Pat Burns, who was enshrined as a coach, and defenceman Rob Blake.AGENCIES
