Thundery rain this weekend; drop in temp from Sunday in Qatar

Doha: Thundery rain with strong wind and high seas is expected this weekend said Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) in its weather forecast report. 

It added that there will be relative drop in temperatures on Sunday and Monday compared with the previous days.

Friday will be misty at first becoming partly cloudy with a chance of scattered and thundery rain at time by evening. There will be strong northeasterly wind reaching 25KT during thundery rain and high seas as well, QMD said in its report. 

The weather will remain similar on Saturday with blowing dust at times. The wind will be mainly southeasterly-easterly gusting to 30KT at times. 

During these days visibility will be around 4-8km with temperatures varying between minimum of 21 degrees celsius and maximum of 26 degree celsius.

Wind direction will shift to northwest from Sunday that will be accompanied by a slight drop in temperatures, Qatar Meteorology Department posted on its twitter account. 

"It is expected that the wind direction will shift to northwest from Sunday, March 22, where the speed will range between 12-22 kt gusting to 26kt which leads to blowing dust especially in open areas," said the QMD statement. 

It added that there will be relative drop in temperatures on Sunday and Monday compared with the previous days. The maximum temperatures will range between 22-27 degree Celsius while the minimum will be around 15-19 degree Celsius. 

It also issued a warning against marine activities as the sea wave is expected to exceed 10ft. 

The department called up residents to avoid going to the sea and to follow latest weather updates through its official accounts.
