Doha, Qatar: The Documentation Department at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) organised yesterday an introductory workshop for lawyers on the new e-transactions and how to submit them.

During the workshop, Director of the Documentation Department Areej Mohsen Al Shammari and Head of the Documentation Affairs Section Sarah Al Dhabyani, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the e-transaction systems and detailed guidelines for submitting digital documents according to the updated systems.

Al Dhabyani explained that the launch of digital transformation transactions in the Documentation Department came in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and keenness to develop projects and work systems that meet the needs of beneficiaries and enhance customer satisfaction, including lawyers, as this initiative will contribute to improving operational efficiency, reducing the time required to complete transactions, and enhancing transparency, which represents a qualitative shift in the method of providing services.

The workshop discussed the documentation services for lawyers that will be provided according to the new digital system through video communication transactions and automated transactions linked in their first phase to the Qatar Digital Identity (QDI) system, which includes general power of attorney for legal cases and authorization for processing transactions with government entities.

The conditions for applying for these transactions were also clarified, which are limited to the existence of an active account for the person concerned in the QDI application with the availability of an electronic signature, and that the signature be made by one party in his personal capacity, provided that the person concerned chooses the required form from among the available standard forms without adding to it, in addition to emphasizing that one of the system’s controls in general power of attorney in cases is that the agent must be a lawyer.

A new feature within the updated digital services was introduced: the activation of QR codes for all power of attorney documents.

This allows lawyers and clients to easily access the validity of the document by scanning the code.
