Shura Council delegation meets UN official in Egypt

Sharm Al Sheikh: A delegation of Shura Council participating in the 9th Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption, which was held in Sharm Al Sheikh in Egypt, met with Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) based in Vienna Dr. Ghada Waly.

Dr. Ghada Waly praised Qatar's Shura Council elections, praising the directives of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in supporting popular participation. 

She added that the elected Shura Council will help in developing legislation supporting the fight against corruption and organised crime of all kinds.

During the meeting, prospects for cooperation between the Shura Council and the UN were reviewed, especially with regard to the role of women and youth in parliaments around the world, and the support that should be provided to such groups.

In addition, the two sides agreed to coordinate to unify the efforts of parliaments around the world in anti-corruption issues and the continuation of cooperation in all areas of common interest. 

The Shura Council delegation includes H E Ali bin Fetais Al Marri, H E Nasser bin Mutref Al Humaidi, and H E Salem bin Rashid Al Muraikhi, members of the Council.
