The Digital Incubation Centre of the Ministry of Transport and Communications has started receiving applications for technology startups offering a great opportunity to talented entrepreneurs, developers and designers to fulfill their dreams.

“IdeaCamp” is a new programme from the Digital Incubation Center (DIC) for entrepreneurs, developers and designers who have a great idea for a technology solution.

Online applications will be accepted by October 18 and after that all applicants will have to attend a number of sessions from October 20 to November 25. After passing through various skill-development sessions, applicants will finally pitch their ideas on October 27 to join DIC startup track.

According to information shared on the Ministry’s social media accounts and ideacamp.qa website, applicants will develop a business model, build a prototype and test his/her idea with customers through a series of workshops, training and mentorship. The Ministry is encouraging talented entrepreneurs to “apply now for IdeaCamp and see your idea grow!” on its social media pages.

“By the end of the programme they will know whether their idea is likely to succeed in the market and will pitch to join the DIC Startup Track to take their idea to the next level.”

The DIC offers startups free office space, technical support, training and guidance, mentors who can help new businesses avoid the typical start-up pitfalls, and the exposure and public relations from being a part of the DIC. Successful startups with abilities to grow and scale up will be hosted as tenants in Qatar’s Digital Cluster in Manateq Economic Zone.

IdeaCamp is accepting applications for any technology idea, however the program is “particularly interested in ideas on Blockchain, 3D Printing and IOT”.

Blockchain is a secure method for exchanging assets over the internet and has multiple applications.

These include smart contracts and property assets management, to patient health records and proof of ownership for digital content.

3D Printing will change manufacturing and has multiple applications across industry. For prototyping or rapid manufacturing of consumer products, companies within industries such as aviation, automotive, sports, space, food, healthcare are already benefiting from this technology.

The Internet of Things (IOT) is the concept of connecting any device, physical object, or even living being to the internet. One popular use for IoT is within transport networks and smart cities but in reality the applications for this technology are virtually endless.

The Digital Incubation Center (DIC) was created to boost ICT innovation in Qatar, particularly among young people at the critical early stages of starting or growing a technology-related business.

The DIC is looking for entrepreneurs capable of harnessing emerging technologies to create innovative products, solutions, or services that will contribute to Qatar’s digital economy.
