QF signs MoU with Qatar Cyclists Centre

With an aim to promote culture of sports and healthy lifestyle, Qatar Foundation (QF) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Cyclists Centre. 

The MoU forms part of a wider year-round campaign by QF to encourage Qatar’s population to live active & healthy. It was signed by Machaille Al Naomi, President of Community Development at QF and Dr Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Chairman, Qatar Cyclisys Center, at the Awsaj Academy in the Education City. 

Following the signing ceremony, representatives of QF and Qatar cyclists Center took part in a one hour cycle within the Education City passing through places including the Al Shaqab and the Oxygen Park. 

The MoU will facilitate Qatar Cyclists Centre to have a office at Education City and train people of all ages to cycle. The participants will be able to practice cycle indoors and outdoors within the Education City. 

"One of our objectives at Qatar Foundation is to ensure encourage healthy lifestyles among the community and this partnership is another step towards reaching this goal," Al Naimi told media speaking on the sidelines of the signing ceremony.  "Community Development lies at the heart of everything we do at Qatar Foundation. This agreement which aims to encourage the community live healthy lifestyles will provide a number of opportunities for the public" she added. 

Dr Al Kuwari, said "Qatar Cyclists Center, which is a part of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, has collaborated with a number of institutions to encourage riders of all ages and nationalities to cycle.  "We regularly organise tours and competitions, as well as fun activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family.” 

“With that in mind, we are delighted to sign this agreement with Qatar Foundation to continue promoting the sport within the local community." 

He also added that they would like to thank Qatar Foundation for providing indoor cycling facilities, as well as a safe place to cycle outside, through the streets of Education City.
