Q Label Designers Collection, a company for women's dresses, yesterday announced the launch of “iCARE” initiative to dedicate a part of its profits to income generation projects for the women of the Muslim minority in Myanmar.
The initiative aims to collect QR260,000 which will given to Qatar Red Crescent distributing sewing machines to the needy women in Myanmar.
“iCARE is a project put together by six ladies, from different backgrounds, coming together to give back to suffering humanity by making fashion meet compassion,” said Saba Syed, a representative of Q Label in a tea time media gathering at Intercontinental Doha the City yesterday.
“A special set of clothes will be launched twice a year and 30 percent of the profit from those dresses will be donated to a specific humanitarian cause.
This year, for the first launch, Q Label has joined Qatar Red Crescent’s project in Myanmar and dedicated their cause to “iCARE for Myanmar”.
Four beautiful summer dresses have been released, each dress with a symbolic name, “Compassion”, “Care”, “Peace”, and “Love”, Syed said.
"Dresses are available and could be purchased online, Yezenia Navarro, a representative of Q Label told The Peninsula.
Customers can place orders through the website and social channels of the company, she added. Muslim minority in Myanmar (Burma) has suffered for the past few years. There have been several official reports of crimes against humanity leaving thousands homeless and helpless.
QRC started a special project for the women in Myanmar who were left helpless and without any support to help them get back on their feet by training them to stitch and providing them with sewing machines so they could earn their living and start a new life. “Clothings that are designed by women and are produced by women, are being sold to provide help for women through the machines to stitch clothes.” The owner said, “Although we have spent so much time, resources and endless effort, if a year later I find out that our cause of “iCARE” had brought even one woman in Myanmar out of her misery and gave her hope to live, it will be worth of every single second of my time and effort.”
Q Label will continue to raise awareness about Myanmar and help QRC raise funds until July 31. The funds raised during this time will be handed over to QRC on August 1, 2017 closing this particular project of charity.
Next, Saba Syed and Yezenia Navarro, will travel with Qatar Red Crescent to Myanmar representing Q Label to oversee the project, and bring back pictures and videos to show the customers how their charity contributed towards making other women’s lives better and happier.
