Doha: The first pitch for Qatar 2022 clocked a new world record in laying down the turf at The Khalifa International Stadium in 13 and a half hours.
The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) announced it today on its official Twitter account.
The new world record smashed AZF’s previous best which it set when it returfed Al Sadd Sports Club’s stadium in 2016 in just 14:40 hrs. The previous record of 18:00 hours was set in Europe and had stood for some time.

The Khalifa International Stadium (KIS) is being redeveloped to host FIFA Wold Cup 2022 and expected to open by the end of second quarter of this year.
Qatar will benefit in many ways directly and indirectly with World Cup 2022 during the hosting of this giant sport event and aftermath in long term. The direct income will come from the visitors and spectators of Qatar 2022 by providing them housing and other services.
In the long term, the event will boost the tourism industry significantly as it happened with countries that organized previous football world cup championships, which is one of the biggest sport event in the world.
