DOHA: Qatar 2015 yesterday announced Maersk Oil Qatar as a Prestige Partner of the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship as it prepares to welcome teams, athletes and spectators to the sporting mega-event to start in January 2015.
The contract of mutual agreement was signed on November 12, 2014 by Dr Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, Director General of the Qatar 2015 Organising Committee and Lewis Affleck, Managing Director, Maersk Oil Qatar. Under the leadership of H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Organising Committee, the Qatar 2015 Organising Committee is striving to a remarkable championship yet and working with some of the largest companies in Qatar to deliver its vision of the Championship.
This is the first time this championship is being held in Qatar and the Committee is working with the largest companies in Qatar to deliver its vision for an exceptional event. Working with Maersk Oil, the international organisation with a track record of supporting sport, the Organising Committee aims to raise the global profile of the Men’s Handball World Championship.
Al Kuwari, said: “Our partnership with Maersk Oil is another major milestone of our sponsorship strategy, because of their involvement with major supporting events in Qatar and across their international operations.” He added: “Through a series of community initiatives, we aim to share Maersk Oil’s enthusiasm for sport with Qatar.
