Doha: Power supply was disrupted across the country for around half an hour this morning. The outage, caused by a technical glitch, is being restored by Kahramaa.

Kahramaa tweeted that a technical malfunction at one of the production plants was the cause for power outages and work is on to restore power at the affected areas quickly.

“KAHRAMAA emergency teams managed to restore current to all areas affected by a technical failure at a production plant. We apologize to our subscribers for out-of-control power disruption and appreciate your support and understanding. In case of any future interruption please call 991 or report through KAHRAMAA Smartphone application,” the company said on Twitter.

Residents from Najma, Mansoura, Al Sadd, New Salata, Madinat Khalifa and Wukair called in at The Peninsula to inform that the power supply was disconnected at around 11:30am.

"Suddenly the lights and ACs went off. I could also hear a commotion outside too as people started discussing the lack of electricity. In our neighbouring building someone was stuck in the lift and required assistance to get outside," said a resident from Najma.

Power was back at most places within 20 minutes and many customers were seen thanking the utility company on twitter for the quick turnaround and clarification.
