Qatar Ports Management Authority (Mwani Qatar) has cleared 142,854 tonnes of general cargo in August 2017 compared to 80,275 tonnes in July 2017, showing a growth of 78 percent.
According to recent figures released by Mwani, the Authority handled 67,603 standard containers in August 2017. Mwani also handled 4,870 vehicles, 58, 895 heads of livestock and 23, 482 tonnes of aggregate in August 2017.
In total, Mwani Qatar cleared 2,54,234 tonnes of general cargo in the last three months (June, July, Aug 2017) while during the same period, Mwani handled around 140, 490 standard containers.
Like general cargo, the figures indicate around a 197 percent increase in gabbro and building material cleared by Mwani Qatar when August 2017 (23,482 tonnes) is compared with July (7,897 tonnes) on month on month basis. Mwani Qatar handled 48,873 standard containers in July 2017 while the volume of general cargo cleared by the company in the same month reached at 80,275 tonnes. In July, Mwani Qatar handled 4,922 vehicles, 74,148 heads of livestock and 7,897 tonnes of gabbro and building material.
In the first month of siege, Mwani Qatar supplied around 60,858 heads of livestock and handled 24,014 standard containers. The quantity of general cargo handled by Mwani Qatar in June 2017 was 31,105 tonnes, while in the same month it had handled 6,409 tonnes of gabbro and building material. In June, Mwani also handled as many as 4,322 vehicles. In June, the first month of blockade, Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) had handled 212 vessels across its different ports in the country. These 212 vessels were hosted at Hamad Port, Doha Port and Ruwais Port.
